My Everything In A Nutshell Ranger
ok this is my 1st attempt at posting a build beat it up please... anyway ive been playing GW for about 2 months and i made this build.. im not sure if its ever been posted so if it has dont kill me about it...
ok here it goes..
R/Mo
expert 11+1 minor rune 14
beast 1 minor rune 1
WS 1 minor rune 1
marks 12+3 rune +1 mask 16
i use barrage / pen attack / distracting shot / favor winds / throw dirt / dodge / healing breeze / and rebirth or rez sig
Ok everyone knows with
barrage you can hit up to 6 targets at once so is kinda a AoE with this setup you will do +17dmg per hit
pen attack allows +18 dmg plus the 20% armor pen
distracting shot deals only 13 dmg but is used to interrupt that pesky healer
ok favorable for speed and dmg increase
dirt to blind
and dodge yes i know there are better running skills out there but i only use dodge to get away and avoid the evil crippling shot which will own you.
i like breeze better than troll for the speed sake of it who really has the time to sit and cast troll in the heart of battle... not me id rather run an drop a breeze and keep running at +5 regin you can should survive
and i know rebirth sucks but its got range so in PvE i feel its a must in PvP Rez sig for the win.
ok basicly with this build you can almost none stop spam out damage, with the high end expert you can cast most of the skills super cheap and still gte out your max damage output. ive made many variations to this build but by far this has the best Dmg/sec and Energy management i have been able to produce.

Is this PvE or PvP?
In PvE, you have too much "all around". Depend on your team a bit more for healing. Your damage also won't really compare with other builds this way. Try to get some more AoE from things like traps, and use stances like whirling to set them without getting hit.
The dmg you have won't go far in PvP either. Hard to use barrage effectively when its on one person, and rangers don't have much 1 on 1 damage that another class could get, unless you are running something like ranger spike. Maybe drop in Crippling shot and apply poison or something.

No offense, but 11+1 = 12, not 14 , personally, since you're not using any monk attributes, I'd suggest, 13 expertise, 11 wilderness, 12 marksmanship. 13 is a nice expertise breakpoint, everything costs 50% less. You reduce your dmg by a couple points, but you increase the duration for throw dirt and dodge.

Dodge will not allow you to avoid crippling shot, pindown yes, crippling shot, nope.

I would not use Healing breeze. If you wanted to throw monk skills in there use something like Aegis. You'll be to busy to heal your team mates. And if it was meant as a self heal, then Troll Ungent dance's circles around heal breeze...especially if you aren't planning on putting any points into healing. I'd use Whirling Defense over Dodge, cause dodge only dodges ranged attacks, and Whirling defense (75% chace to block attacks) will serve double duty in keeping you safe from those nasty sword toting buggers. I have mixed feelings about Favorable Winds, but Pen attack was a good choice. Barrage isn't much help in PvP. But its one of the quintessential skills in PvE. Other than that keep up your experimenting! And you'll play better with something you're comfortable with, despite what anyone says.

i believe i would replace barrage with punishing shot for pvp
and yes its 12 =P
i dunno though punishing has a long recharge time.
one thing i noticed is i tend to be the last one standing im most battles pve or pvp
pve i tend to be the one who rezes everyone and then we continue the battle and also in pvp i then to be the last one in my team alive, maybe its cause im the ranger the least dangerous one... maybe i dunno.
i may go whirling for pvp instead of dodge, but keep dodge for pve so i can break aggro.
and maybe a trap for FW.

Ranger's are generally far outta the action. Have armor enough that they'd be second from the last in priority to kill. People usually wanna get the very fragile foes outta the way before they start chasing rangers around. UNLESS it's an interrupt ranger, they're targeted a little sooner than later.
